FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The October 3, 2013 episode of the Katie Couric Show
(ABC-3 PM) will feature Palm Beach County resident Jessica Carbone McKinney, who
survived a kidnapping and rape in 2007. Carbone, whose story will also be the
focus of the October 30th episode of the new Discovery Channel
Series, “Surviving Evil,” was invited by Couric to talk about the assault and
how she was able to plant evidence during the three and a half hours her
attacker had her under his control.
Also on the Katie Couric Show will be actress Charisma
Carpenter, the host of Surviving Evil and also a survivor of attempted rape. Additionally,
well-known Criminal Psychologist and Trial Consultant Michelle Ward will
discuss how Jessica was able to save her own life by connecting on an emotional
level with her assailant. Ward also offered tips for staying safe when out for
the evening.
Jessica and her mother, Donna Carbone, are vocal advocates
for survivors of assault and often speak to support groups and women’s
organizations about healing in the aftermath of violent crime.
The Katie Couric Show will air on ABC on Thursday, October
3, 2013, at 3 pm. Surviving Evil airs on the Discovery Channel’s Investigation
Discovery on October 30, 2013 at 10 pm.
